Soundset 2015

Rain or shine and 30K strong, Soundset 2015 went on in the all-day rain. North Star Aerial was happy to be a part of it. The weather proved to be a challenge. We kept our gear in check and our eyes on the radar.

The rain did not dampen the sprits of the energetic crowd. The music line up was amazing with some serious heavy hitters in the hip hop world. Local icons included Brother AliDessa,  Atmosphere and many more. I must say I was taken back when south centrals hip hop legend Ice Cube hit the stage!

A big shout out to, Rhymesayers ENT., the great crew at 1light Films , Andrew Melby and Stevie Kane

Flying The US Capitol Christmas Tree - another first for aerial cinematography

Standing 88 feet tall and weighing in at 13,000 pounds, the US Capitol Christmas Tree was cut on Oct 28th, 2014. This year's tree came form the Chippewa National Forest in north central Minnesota, and almost 500 people were present to witness the tree cutting ceremony.

The tree will spend 19 days on the road and travel about 2500 miles before it's installed on the front lawn of the US Capitol. The weather was cool, calm and overcast. All the planning and prepping made for another successful day in the air.

North Star Aerial has been part of many great projects this year and we were honored to be part of this momentous occasion. We would like to thank the great production team at Lifetouch Media Productions, The US Forest Service and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
